"HEREAFTER" by coalesce dance theatre
Created & Performed by:
Fern Wareham, Rachel Maffei, Callum Newman , Jemma Stein, Emily Davidson & Adam Hargreaves |
Coalesce Dance presents their latest work Hereafter. This work consists of a series of short, dynamic exchanges that are accompanied by live music. The work explores how technological advancements in modern society are making human interactions increasingly stark. The use of live music incites an exploration of our escalating disenchantment with reality and the subsequent breakdown of all natural communications. As channels of communication breakdown, the line between virtual reality and what exists in front of us blurs.
aBOUTCoalesce Dance Theatre are a Salford based, all female led dance theatre company, who create and explore work that is engaging, educative and accessible to all audiences. Our mission is to connect our audiences with ideas about the wider world through exciting and thought provoking performance.
Coalesce Dance Theatre was formed in 2016 by Fern Wareham, Rachel Maffei and Anna Papatheodorou. Coalesce are currently one of the artists in residence at The University of Salford. We were recently commissioned for a project for Turn Festival, Manchester and Innovations Platform in Chester. |
"S(HE)" by SANDRO FRANCHINI
Created and Performed by:
Sandro Franchini |
This solo dance piece is an exploration of gender roles in dance, where the male performer express physical dance qualities sometimes on bare feet, and sometimes on heels.
Are they feminine dance movements on a male body, or perhaps “just” movements? Society believe these to be feminine, but can they be perceived differently since expressed by a man? Do these movements objectify, since expressed in a different manner? The performer needs the scrutiny and gaze of the audience to discovery this. But his gaze could be perhaps the one to render the spectator the object. AboutSandro Franchini is a Dancer, Teacher and Choreographer from Italy.
